A close look at a day in the life of Mr. K.T from the sales department. We will introduce you to the real life of working as a sales person, such as responding to estimates, making internal adjustments, and creating materials.
K.T.
Male (late 30s) Joined in 2018, Deputy Manager of International Sales Department
I start my morning by checking my email and organizing today’s to-do list. We decide on priorities while checking the materials received from the factory and the progress of new projects. It’s time to grab a cup of coffee and think, “Okay, what kind of day will I have today?”
We responded to a request for quotation for soda ash for Akita and Oita ports that arrived yesterday. Contact the manufacturer to confirm pricing and availability. While keeping an eye on market trends, I thought about how I could convince them and sent them a quotation all at once. It feels like I’ve climbed the first mountain.
Internal meeting with junior colleagues regarding ongoing projects. We will eliminate any concerns as soon as possible by checking to see if delivery dates are overlapping and if there is enough inventory. I believe that this kind of steady confirmation leads to trust.
Today I had lunch outside with my colleagues. I went to an Okinawan restaurant for the first time in a while. We both have our favorite seasonings, and we both find them delicious. At first we were talking about work, but before we knew it, we started talking about hobbies (lol). It was just a nice refresh.
I came up with an idea that would allow me to make better proposals to new customers that I am developing. Immediately gather the materials and contact the other party. I was able to get an appointment for next week, and I feel like everything went at a good pace. I enjoy moments like this.
The quotation I submitted in the morning was accepted and I successfully received the order! Create a contract and confirm delivery dates and shipping arrangements with the factory. There are a lot of small adjustments to be made, but one of the important jobs of sales is to work out the details to ensure smooth delivery.
Now that all the work is done, it’s time to calm down and gather some information. Check price trends of major products and check international news. The impact of exchange rates and logistics is surprisingly large, so it’s important to keep this information in mind.
Today’s tasks were completed smoothly. Once you have submitted your daily report, shut down your computer. The days when I can go home on time, I feel a little better. “Thank you for your hard work,” I said as I left the office.
I start my morning by sorting out emails and to-dos, and then finish work on estimates, contracts, proposals, and research before leaving work on time. Because young employees can be involved in a wide range of areas, the speed of growth is fast. You can definitely advance your career while working in a balanced way.
