Edible Salt

Edible salt is the salt used for daily cooking by people. Its main component is sodium chloride (NaCl), which is used for seasoning and to replenish the essential sodium in the human body. It is an indispensable substance for the human body. Sodium chloride, the national standard edible salt contains ≥ 97% sodium chloride. Sodium is responsible for maintaining blood pressure and ensuring the normal functioning of the nervous and muscular systems.

Edible Salt Characteristics

Appearance: White crystalline particles; refined salt is fine powder, while sun-dried / lake salt is coarse crystals; sun-dried salt may have a slight yellow or light gray color, and has no visible impurities under the naked eye.
Odor: Odorless, no peculiar smell.
Taste: Purely salty taste, no bitterness or astringency.

Frequent Species

Refined salt: The most commonly used, with fine particles and high purity
Sun-dried sea salt: Made from seawater, retains a small amount of minerals, and has slightly coarser particles
Lake salt: Extracted from salt lakes, naturally crystallized
Well-mineral salt: Extracted from underground salt mines, processed and refined

Common Additions

Potassium iodate: Iodized salt, for preventing iodine deficiency; there is also a non-iodized salt version.
Antioxidant: Ferrocyanide potassium / Ammonium ferrous citrate, prevents salt from clumping, and is safely added in compliance with regulations for human consumption.
