Road Salt

Road salt is a salt-based freezing prevention agent. It lowers the freezing point of water and prevents the formation of ice on the road surface, quickly melting the snow. It is available in single salt type and a composite type that combines corrosion inhibitors with calcium chloride and sodium chloride. It is used in a wide range of sites such as general roads in cold regions, expressways, airports, and municipal roads, ensuring the safety of winter road traffic.

Road Salt Main component classification

Basic-type Road salt (salt-based): Calcium chloride (CaCl₂) has a low melting point, effectively melting ice even at -29°C. Due to its strong hygroscopicity, it is well-suited for cold regions.
Sodium chloride (NaCl) (commercial coarse salt): The most cost-effective option, ideal for areas with low snowfall and for de-icing operations at temperatures around 0°C.
Magnesium chloride (MgCl₂): Offers excellent long-term anti-freeze performance and slightly lower corrosion risk on road surfaces and vehicle undercarriages compared to pure calcium chloride.
Composite-type road salt: A product combining calcium chloride and sodium chloride with corrosion inhibitors. It helps reduce rust formation and damage on reinforced concrete roads and vehicle undercarriages, making it the mainstream choice for highways, airports, and city roads.
